Minister of Public Works

THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC WORKS is responsible for the technical control and management of the construction of public infrastructure and buildings as well as the maintenance and protection of the national road heritage.

As such, he has as duty to:

- develop a maintenance and rehabilitation policy for public infrastructure, buildings and roads;

- carry out all relevant studies for the adaptation to local ecosystems of these infrastructure in collaboration with the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation, research or teaching institutions and any other competent body;

- ensure the promotion of public infrastructure, buildings and roads in collaboration with the Ministry of the Economy Planning and Regional Development;

- control the execution of construction works on public infrastructure and buildings in compliance with established norms;

- contribute to the construction and maintenance of roads, including urban road networks in collaboration with the competent Ministries and bodies;

- monitor the activities of professional organisations of engineers of the Civil Engineering and engineers of Public Works;

- manage the training of personnel of the public works in collaboration with the Relevant ministries.

He technically supervises the National Advanced School of Public Works (ENSTP) and

- the National Civil Engineering Equipment Pool (MATGENIE)

- National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LABOGENIE).

He is assisted by a Secretary of State in charge of Roads.
