Minister of Transport

THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORT is responsible for the elaboration and implementation of Government policy in matters of transport and road safety.

As such, he has as duty to:

- study and participate in the elaboration and implementation of legal and regulatory measures pertaining to transport;

- study and participate in the elaboration and implementation of legal and regulatory road safety measures in collaboration with the Relevant ministries;

- ensure the coordinated development of all modes of transport;

- ensure or control the organisation and functioning of air, railway, maritime and river transport; 

- ensure or control the organisation and functioning of road transport and road safety in collaboration with the Relevant ministries;

- monitor the implementation and the execution of the sector plan for transport;

- manage civil aviation, river and maritime transport, road and railway transport and meteorology;

- contribute in the vocational training of transport personnel;

- monitor the activities of the CAMRAIL company.

He monitors the affairs of the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation (ASECNA) and all others related to aviation safety.

He is the liaison for Government and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) as well as the World Meteorological Organisation in collaboration with the Ministry of External Relations.

He Supervises the Autonomous Ports, public, and para public bodies within his area of competence, namely;

- the National Port Authority (NPA);

- the Cameroon Airports Company (ADC);

- the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA);

- the Cameroon Airlines Corporation (CAMAIR Co);

- the Cameroon National Shippers Council (CNSC);
He is assisted by a Minister Delegate.
