Minister of Mines, Industries and Technological Development

THE MINISTER OF INDUSTRY, MINES AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT prepares and implements the industrial and mining policy of Government and technological development strategies in the different areas of national economy.

To this effect, he is in charge of the:

- preparation of a mining map;

- geological prospection and mining activities;

- valorisation of mining, petroleum and gas resources;

- management of natural mining and gas resources;

- follow-up of the upstream oil sector;

- promotion of local industry;

- development of industrial zones;

- promotion of private investments;

- promotion of investments in the sector of mining, industry and technological development in connection with the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development and the relevant Administrations;

- preparation and implementation of the industrialization plan of the country;

- preparation, distribution and monitoring the implementation of texts provided for by the investment charter;

- local transformation of mining, agricultural and forestry products in connection with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife as well as other relevant Administrations;

- technological development in connection with the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation;

- technology surveillance in the industrial field in liaison with the relevant Administrations;

- promotion and defence of a quality trademark for products consumed locally and for export in connection with the relevant Administrations.

- monitoring activities of the National Office for Industrial Trade Zones (NOITZ) and the Industrial Zones Development and Management Authority (MAGZI);

- monitoring standards and quality in liaison with the relevant Administrations.

He is the link between Government and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), African Intellectual Property Organization (AIPO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in relation with the Ministry of External Relations.

He supervises public or para-public companies operating in his area of ​​jurisdiction, aid agencies to industries as well as management companies in the mining sector, including:

- the National Investment Company (SNI);

- Standards and Quality Agency (ANOR);

- Investments Promotion agency (API);

- the National Office for Industrial Trade Zones (NOITZ);

- Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Craft (CCIMA);

- the Industrial Zones Development and Management Authority (MAGZI).

He is assisted by a Secretary of State.
